The study of the effects of grass.
"Grassology ," "The study of the effects of grass," observes the affects of social interactions within architecture and landscape design. Additionally, this is an opportunity to discuss our relationships and obsession with grass, close to nature and at the same time not.
The project greeted regular customers at the Blue Moose, a popular cafe in central Morgantown, West Virginia on a cold winter day. Inside the space ryegrass covered all surfaces. As visitors moved over the grass, watercolor paper underneath the grass traced their movements through time. We made video from three vantages as well as sound interpretations of digital image signals. In the final exhibit, the paper images were mounted on different frames that formed abstract prints, maps and records of the event. The video documentation was projected onto the prints, and sound accompanied. In collaboration with artists Michelle Walkey, Glynis Board and Paul Valette.
